Virtual Lecture Hall Programme

CARA has recently established a Virtual Lecture Hall (VLH) at the University of Zimbabwe.

This project enables academics in the diaspora to reconnect with the College of Health Science and the Faculties of Science and Veterinary Science at the University of Zimbabwe.

Subject areas missing senior and experienced lecturers have been identified and matched with Zimbabwean and non-Zimbabwean academics willing and able to teach the subject via a videoconference system. The 'Life Size' video conferencing equipment has been installed in a lecture hall at the University of Zimbabwe and is fully functional and ready to receive lectures from abroad.

Academics who are committed to teaching a class already are streaming their lectures simultaneously. For academics who are not employed at a university and/or do not have easy access to videoconference equipment, CARA can obtain a video conference license to enable lectures to be given from a personal computer.

The lectures being ‘streamed’ into Zimbabwe will be regarded as supplementary material. The involvement will not entail a change of timetables, the change of syllabus, or the marking of exams.

If you would like to engage with the VLH project, or have any questions in relation to it, please contact us on zimbabwe.cara@lsbu.ac.uk or 0207 021 0880.
